Design Manifesto
Design peacefully. Let’s bring peace to today’s design. Global warming is the most difficult and critical situation we face today. We need a new design system that creates ideas in a sustainable way.
We are all interconnected. Nothing is separate, nothing is other. The relationship between all living systems is sacred. The end result is peace at every level: personal peace, world peace, peace with nature.
Design freely. Be a design activist. Do solidarity design. Design can and should become a path through which each of us can take part in changing society… Designing with people in need… designing for them, you will learn and they will learn from you…
Design with “the eyes of the sky.” Design as if you were seeing the world from the sky, to gain a global, holistic perspective… integrating economy, ecology, spirituality and science. Connect the whole process of life through creative, sustainable work.
Learn from nature — it is our best teacher. We can design like nature: with humility, reverence and without limits.
We don’t need more products, we need more trees. Design trees. The tree is a spiritual being, a teacher… it is the connection between sky and earth; it becomes a call for peace.
Today’s design is in need of peace. We can be the change we want to see in the world. Your design can be your message. If you ask me, is it possible to design a better world? My answer is YES.
Another world is not only possible… it is already on its way.
On a quiet day… I can hear it breathing.
Excerpt from a manifesto written by Guillem Ferrer, creative director of CAMPER, the footwear company.
This manifesto — a song to spirituality and to peaceful, sustainable design — is my encounter with words that express what I feel.
